DineLA And Chowderfest in Long Beach - Here’s What’s Popping Up - LA Weekly

DineLA kicks off on Friday, Oct. 14 for two weeks of hundreds of lunch and dinner dining deals across the southland. Some highlights include a $65 three-course dinner at Redbird with choices of chicken liver mousse tartine, kabocha pumpkin soup, California sea bass, pork tenderloin and more, plus a choice of desserts.

Or transport yourself to Italy at   L’Antica Pizzeria Da Michele in the heart of Hollywood. The restaurant’s DineLA offerings include three-course lunch ($35) and dinner ($65) options . There will be Margherita pizzas; Stanley Tucci’s favorite Spaghetti Alla Nero, made with homemade spaghetti, zucchini, parmigiano, pecorino and basil; Tiramisu and more.

From Oct. 14 to Oct. 28, Catch in Santa Monica at the Hotel  Casa del Mar will offer a choice of salmon tartare, grilled octopus, Iberico de Bellota ham salad, roasted pasture bird chicken, slow braised short ribs, dry aged branzino, or king oyster mushroom linguini. For dessert there’s ricotta cheesecake with berry compote or brownie with vanilla gelato. $65 per person, not including tax and gratuity . Dinner will be served nightly from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Available for dine-in only, and the entire table must participate in Dine LA.

National Taco Day is over, but Southern California’s El Torito will be celebrating its 68th anniversary on Thursday, Oct. 13 from 3 p.m., at every location , with free tacos from a build-your-own-taco bar (chicken, steak, carnitas, or al pastor) and live DJ entertainment. 

The anniversary celebrations also will feature happy hour food and drink specials, including $4 street corn, $4 queso dip, $4 draft beers, $6 signature margaritas, $8 chicken flautas, and more. 

The Aquarium of the Pacific’s annual Sea Fare Chowderfest fundraiser takes place on Saturday, Oct. 15 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Sea Fare guests can explore the indoor galleries while sampling hearty chowders, savory bites, fresh baked goods, craft beer, and wine from more than twenty local businesses. There will be live and silent auctions, as well as a live band and dancing at the aquarium’s Honda Blue Cavern exhibit. There will be unlimited beer and wine from the bars. The entire aquarium will be open with the exception of Lorikeet Forest,  Sea Fare tickets are $100 per person. Visit aquariumofpacific.org/seafare for more information.

LA’s BEST annual Locally Grown fundraiser in the Garden at Redbird hosted by Amy Knoll Fraser and Chef Neal Fraser returns this year on Thursday, Oct. 13.  

The evening is $125 per person and will feature garden-infused cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from local chefs including: Vanessa and Thomas Tilaka Kalb (Agnes Restaurant & Cheesery), Arjun and Nakul Mahendro (Badmaash), David Schlosser, (Shibumi), Steve Samson (Rossoblu), Ray Garcia (asterid), David LeFevre (Fishing with Dynamite), Dustin J. Trani (Trani’s Dockside Station) and Fred Eric (Fred 62).
